HOW TO PRODUCE SODA SOAP.
Soda soap,
also known as laundry soap, is a type of soap that is made with sodium
hydroxide (also known as lye) and a type of fat, such as vegetable oil or
animal fat. Here are the steps to make soda soap:
Materials:
ü Sodium
hydroxide (lye)
ü Water
ü A
type of fat (vegetable oil or animal fat)
ü A
large stainless steel or enamel pot
ü A
scale
ü A
thermometer
ü Safety
gear (gloves, goggles, long sleeves, and pants)
Instructions:
ü Weigh
out the appropriate amount of sodium hydroxide (lye) and set it aside.
ü Weigh
out the appropriate amount of water and pour it into the stainless steel or
enamel pot.
ü Slowly
add the sodium hydroxide (lye) to the water, stirring constantly with a wooden
or plastic spoon. (Never add water to the lye, as it can cause a dangerous
reaction.)
ü Allow
the lye solution to cool to room temperature.
ü Weigh
out the appropriate amount of fat (vegetable oil or animal fat) and melt it in
a separate pot over low heat.
ü Once
the fat is melted, pour it into the lye solution and stir continuously until
the mixture thickens and reaches a trace, which is a point where the mixture is
thick enough to leave a visible trail when stirred.
ü Pour
the soap mixture into a mold and cover it with a towel or piece of cloth.
ü Allow
the soap to sit for at least 24 hours, or until it has hardened.
ü Once
the soap has hardened, remove it from the mold and cut it into bars or flakes.
ü Allow
the soda soap to cure for several weeks in a dry, cool place before using it.
Note: When working with lye, it's
important to wear safety gear and work in a well-ventilated area, as lye can
cause serious burns and release toxic fumes. It's also important to be precise
with measurements and follow the instructions carefully to ensure a safe and
effective soap.
